It’s important to be aware of potential hidden fees or traps, which can occur over and above the advertised fee as this can be a common practice amongst some providers. Although a practise Age Up Health does not indulge, we see the impact of hidden fees in the quality of the services received by new clients who have transferred to us. So look carefully at your Home Care Packages to ensure you avoid costly and expensive mistakes. Here are just a few that you need to be aware of:
Set up fees are an additional cost to establish your package or membership with your chosen provider. If the advertised fees seem
unusually or extremely low, ask the provider if there are any additional fees. You don't want to feel locked into a service provider if
you paid a high set-up cost.
Uncapped case management and/or administrative costs can occur in stances of lower fees. This could be fees charged for calling the service provider, yet they don't show, or being charged for an item that is clearly the service provider's responsibility. Always ask the provider about management costs before you agree.
With a smaller budget you may be tempted to consider flexible pricing, assuming your budget is going a 'longer way'. Unfortunately, this could be the most expensive as you are then charged 'additional' costs for extra items or services. Before agreeing to this term, it is best to understand what the flexible options consist of, are logical and clear, and you know exactly what you will be charged.
Is there a surcharge for using your preferred service provider? There shouldn't be. However, you may find that your service provider may charge an additional fee for using a service that isn't one they have a financial agreement with.
We appreciate how important it is for you to be in control of your life and your finances. The same should be said for choosing a Home Care Provider. Make sure you check what is exactly in your Home Care Package and what your expenses will include. Also, check your service agreement for all the details and ensure you understand these.
