Instead, you'll pay a higher all-inclusive hourly rate for each service, and most will enjoy an overall benefit of more service hours available each month.

Over 8 funding levels, you can get up to $78k each year to help age independently at home.

You may also receive up to

  • $15k for Assistive Technology
  • $15k for Home Modifications
  • $12k for Restorative Care; and
  • $25k for End of Life supports

Clinical, Independence and Daily living are new service categories - each with different fees.

Clinical services are paid in full by your home care funding, so you'll have no out-of-pocket fees. Service under the Independence & Daily Living categories will require some co-payment, and the amount varies depending on whether you are a full pensioner, part pensioner or self-funded retiree.

From 1 November, all new participants now pay some fees towards the cost of home support services.

However, the rules are different depending on whether you are:

  • A Grandfathered participant -if you were approved for home care before 12 September 2024  you won't need to pay fees any under Support At Home if you weren't already. If you were paying some fees you, you'll be no worse off.
  • A Transitional participant - if you were approved for a home care package after 12 Sept 2024 and before 1 November 2025, you will transition to the new Support At Home scheme and be required to pay some fees towards your care.

A simpler pathway to apply for aged care funding with all funding assessments are now completed by a Single Assessment workforce

The new system aims to simplify the aged care process by providing a single, consistent assessment, even as needs change. Start by signing up with My Aged Care and requesting an assessment.
